         In
addition to the historic Hay Barn, a "new" Milking Barn was
built in the 1920's when the USDA's sanitation laws for milking cows and
storing milk were revised. This 800 square foot structure was divided
into two main areas, the new-fangled milking parlor that featured automated
equipment for milking ten cows simultaneously, and a milk storage section
where the milk collected by the milking machines was poured into milking
cans and stored for pickup and distribution around the county.

The Milking Barn is now divided into two sections, the Milking Parlor
        is now a 350 square foot Studio "A" while the U-shaped, 350
square foot milk storage area is now Studio "B". Each studio
        rents for $300/month plus utilities.

         Studio
A is occupied by mixed media and metal sculptress Aileen Cormack. Aileen
has exhibited her work in the Blue Gum Gallery during Open Studios and
has participated in countywide venues such as Sculpture Sonoma 2005. Her
work is in numerous collections, notably Rene deRosa's Napa County diRosa
Preserve that is well-known for its collection of outstanding regional
        artists.

In this photo, Aileen shows artist Don Bishop how to play her electronic
multi-media guitar during Art at the Source Open Studios in 2002.

      Studio
        B

          Studio
        B is currently available. This is a work space only;
not for overnight use. The 350 square foot space occupies the Eastern
half of the Milking Barn, entering under the porch as seen in the photo
        on the left.
      The
U-shaped space includes a large closet (formerly an insulated milk storage
space), double-french doors to enter from one end of the "U",
a single door to enter from the other, a toilet, sink, and windows on
three sides. Clamp lamps attach to the ceiling to direct light where you
need it. Artists can work inside or plein air.
